![]() ![]() ![]() Does this ignorance excuse Steam from failing to ensure people are only buying games their computers can operate, when it is well within their capabilities? No. In which case I can understand a certain amount of ignorance on the part of the game buyer.ĭoes this excuse the buyer? No. But the truth of the matter is we live in a world where people can walk into a chain store, point at a computer that fits their budget and declare "I'll by that one!" without even the slightest idea what's in it. Steam has the capacity to prevent the sale, or at the very least, warn the customer that their PC does not meet minimum specs.Īs such, Steam does have a certain 'duty of care' to their customers in this regards as they could indeed prevent such problems.Īnd I never said it was entirely Steam's responsibility, as you're right, people should know their PC specs. ![]() How is it Steams fault people can't or won't read required specs before buying? If you buy a retail version of any game without reading the specs good luck trying to get a refund. In all fairness, Steam is as much to blame here as anyone else as they could simply request system specs as part of each purchase, but they make no effort to prevent buying a game if a person's system is not upto spec. ![]()
